Bonterra Park

It´s Wednesday, so we have arrived at Bonterra Park, Benicassim, 50k north of Valencia. We spent the last 2 days 35k north of here at Alcossebre. As we said in the last blog at Vilanova, we sped south into Spain 2 days earlier than planned as the torrential rain really put us off staying in France. Especially when we texted to Val & Bernard already in Alcossebre and they told us about the hot sun they were having. It was great to catch up with them on Monday and we have spent a very pleasant time at La Tropicana, a few yards from the Med. Yesterday we walked the coastline northwards, taking in several sandy bays, a cafe, a seat on the prom for our lunch (with dates dropping off the trees above us), a wander by the marina and the purchase of new sandals for John. On the way we encountered the local caterpillars - a furry variety, aparently called procession caterpillars as they drop out of the fir trees, form a line and follow each other nose to tail, in our case across the road we were walking beside. We are very sad to report that the centre of this particular procession didn´t make it across - they got squished seconds after our photo, by a white van!
So today we are installed on our adjacent pitches shaded by a couple of fir trees. Our first barbecue this evening has been a great success - it is so lovely to be able to sit out for our meal by candle-light.
Well, tomorrow we´ll be off exploring, so watch this space .....

Our love to all. We are appreciating your responses very much. Many thanks.

Spain at last!

This is our first opportunity to do a bit of blog for ourselves! The others have been courtesy of our Blog Master - Craig. Amazing what a text message can achieve! Thanks a lot Craig for keeping us in business! France was completely devoid of internet, but now we are really living. Here at Vilanova Park there are all mod cons, including a lovely restaurant where we enjoyed a sumptuous meal last night. My chicken was served with a beautiful gravy with prunes, apricots and sultanas, but no veg! It was good though.

As we are still en route today, we´ll fill in lots of details of the last week when we arrive at our destination.

Note to Anne and Chris - the Tarn Bridge (note the typing error in the previous blog) viewing area is now open. Enjoyed the climb up to the viewpoint - took lots of pics.

Thanks for the other comments. Yes, the weather here is infinitely better than it must be at home!!!

Continuing journey south now. Almost at the med. Getting warmer. Highlight was the viaduc de millau (tarn bright). Climbed to a viewpoint. Wonder how they built it. Pics later.

Mountains and lakes

Beautiful sunny day in the mountains of l'auverne. Sat by the sparkling lake chambon for lunch and then walked all round it. Stunning views of snow capped mountains.

Quick update

Reached Orcet today, near ClermontFerrand. Lots of Sun. First campsite on Tuesday we got stuck in the mud and needed a tractor to get us out. Walked by a canal this morning which crosses the river Allier on a huge aquaduct. Did a geocache too. Enjoying a stress free journey.
